We are delighted with PHARMAC's announcement that the Jadelle implant will be included on the schedule of subsidised contraceptives.
View TV3's extensive coverage on their website, including interviews with our chief executive Jackie Edmond and PHARMAC medical director Peter Moodie.
The proposal is in its final stages and, subject to feedback, Jadelle could be available, free of charge from 1 August 2010.
PHARMAC estimates up to 35,000 women could access Jadelle, if cost is no longer a barrier.
The issue of women, particularly young women, being able to access highly effective long acting reversible contraception without cost being a barrier, is one on whichwe have been advocating for over two years.
