Condom Failure

Condoms can be up to 98 percent effective in preventing pregnancy and helping stop sexually transmissible infections (STIs) from being passed on - but only if they are used correctly.

If your condom or your partner's condom broke or slipped off during sexual intercourse you may need to take some action.

Pregnancy

If your main concern is pregnancy, you or your partner may need to get emergency contraception. You can get this at the following places.

This needs to be started within 72 hours (three days), but the sooner you start it the better.

Sexually Transmissible Infection

Unless both partners have had clear sexual health check ups there is a chance that you may have caught a sexually transmissible infection (STI). It is important that you get checked.

You will need to wait for 2-3 weeks before being tested or the STI may not show up.

Call your nearest Family Planning Clinic or sexual health clinic.
