Statistics New Zealand

Abortion statistics in New Zealand are compiled and published by Statistics New Zealand. The latest statistics for the year ending December 2010 are available on the Statistics New Zealand website.

Abortion Supervisory Committee

Abortion statistics are also collated and presented by the Abortion Supervisory Committee (ASC) as a duty under the Contraception, Sterilisation and Abortion Act 1977.

Abortion - What you need to know

Family Planning developed a resource following research in 2009 into young people’s knowledge about abortion. The booklet provides information for pregnant young women wanting help to start making decisions. It also covers signs of pregnancy, decision making prompts, getting help, the law, types of abortion, access, and risks.
