Family Planning provide health promotion services for schools and communities.
School Services
School sessions are designed to meet the requirements of the Health and Physical Education curriculum. The focus is on helping young people to develop key competencies in thinking, using language, symbols and texts, relating to others, managing self and participating and contributing. Our service provides age and ability appropriate sessions for special needs students, ESOL and International students.
Family Planning offers education services tailored to meet your requirements. These can include:
- Student-centred, interactive approaches
- Parent education
- Consultation meetings with Boards of Trustees and parents

- Programme development and ongoing support

Early Years, Primary and Intermediate Programmes
Sessions for early years and primary and intermediate school looks at two programmes - Preparing for Puberty and The Sexuality Road (Year 5 – 8). These programmes explore:
- Physical and emotional changes
- Basic anatomy and physiology
- Reproduction
- Friendships
- Decision making
- Peer pressure
- Body image
Secondary School Programmes
At secondary school, the programme looks at sexuality and relationships education. This programme includes:
- Relationship skills
- Anatomy and physiology
- Conception and birth
- Safer sex, contraception and sexually transmissible infections
- Problem solving, decision making and communication skills
- Sexual orientation
- Resisting sexual pressure
- Peer education programmes
- Relationship violence

Community Services
Courses for communities look at non-clinical aspects of sexuality and relationships. These courses are designed for a range of group including:
- Teachers
- Teacher aids
- Community workers
- Nurses
- Caregivers
- Aides
- Counsellors
- Social workers
- Youth workers
We offer a selection of workshops for adults, parents and caregivers and people with disabilities. These workshops include topics such as menopause, talking with children about sex and sexuality, peer education, post-natal sexuality, contraception, and sexuality and relationships.
We are comfortable offering our workshops and programmes in any location. We have used a range of venues including:
- Community centres
- Marae
- Schools and education centres
- Alternative education centres
- Prisons and remand homes
- English language schools
- Workplaces

Fees
Family Planning is only partially Government funded. We appreciate donations towards travel costs and services.
Family Planning is a registered NZQA Private Training Establishment. Quality accredited by International Planned Parenthood Federation and Quality Health NZ.
