During the World Wars, overseas travel broadened the horizons of both men and women and led to a greater acceptance of contraception.

In World War II, while soldiers heading abroad were issued with condoms, women at home were cautioned by the media to 'show sexual restraint'.

1946

The Dominion Population Committee Report said that if contraceptives were more widely issued they could destroy the moral stamina of the nation.
