Family Planning has expanded its web site and is offering a range of products through a newly launched web shop.
Family Planning Chief Executive Jackie Edmond says the shop will offer access to people living rurally, those with disabilities, those with limited transport, those who prefer to be discrete in their purchasing habits and for the increasing numbers of New Zealanders who now routinely buy on-line.
A small range of products will initially be offered – male and female condoms, lubricants, oral dams and a small range of vibrators.
“We are aware that there is a significant market for these products and that many people will appreciate the ease of access that a web shop offers,” Ms Edmond says.
“We have been distributing and selling Family Planning resources and other sexual and reproductive health information via the web for some time. It is a sensible business decision to expand the range of products that can be purchased this way.
“Family Planning is always looking to expand income streams – funding from Government contracts does not fully cover the services we provide. Any additional funding generated by the web shop will be applied to delivering other Family Planning services.”
