Invercargill Family Planning Clinic on the move
 
 
Family Planning’s Invercargill Clinic is moving to a new location – just around the corner from where it has been for the last 20 years.
 
The current clinic at 68 Don Street will close on Friday 18 April and the new clinic at 142 Esk Street will open on Monday 21 April.
 
The new clinic offers easy access, especially for disabled people or those with a pram or pushchair. Better parking for clients is also available in the new location.
 
The hours of service are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9.00 am until 5.00pm. On Wednesday the clinic is open from 9.00am until 7.00pm.
 
The clinic provides a full suite of sexual and reproductive health services:
  • Contraceptive advice and prescriptions including. Contraceptives available include: condoms both male and female, combined oral contraceptive, progestogen only pill, depo provera injections, Intra Uterine Devices (including Mirena). The emergency contraceptive pill is also available from the clinic.
  • Male and female testing and treatment of sexually transmissible infections, including testing for HIV.
  • Pregnancy testing and advice, referral for termination of pregnancy, miscarriage follow-up 
  • Cervical screening – the clinic is linked to the National Screening Unit so women having their cervical screens done at a Family Planning Clinic are part of the national programme.
  • Breast checks
Clinic visits are free for people under 22. For those with a Community Services Card, the cost of a visit is $5 and for everyone else, a visit costs $22.50.
